The Open 2014: Factory worker John Singleton set for Hoylake

Wallasey factory worker John Singleton speaks to BBC Radio Merseyside about his hopes of having a good week at the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, a course almost on his own doorstep.

Singleton, who first tried to make it at as a professional golfer almost a decade ago, qualified for Hoylake by making it through Regional Qualifying by a shot at Mere last month as a reserve.

After being called up to play in Final Qualifying, he shot a second round 66 at Hillside before coming through a four-man play-off for three spots.

Former American college player Singleton played in the USA after turning professional in 2005, but returned home to England two years later.
