The women golfers who were forced to play on rubbish and broken glass

Wake-Robin Golf Club, which was formed on an abandoned rubbish dump, is the oldest African American women's golf club in the US.

Founded in 1937 in Washington DC before desegregation, members had to play over broken glass and discarded tyres.

Now celebrating its 80th anniversary, it is a thriving club that promotes inclusiveness and diversity in women's golf.

Elizabeth Rice McNeil, 99, is a Wake-Robin member and has registered six hole-in-ones in her lengthy golf career.
