Richard Johnson poised to succeed AP McCoy as champion jockey

Herefordshire jockey Richard Johnson continued his procession towards the National Hunt champion jockey title with two more winners and two places from seven rides at Ludlow on Tuesday.

That took his season's tally to 230 winners, just one short of the great AP McCoy's total when he retired after 20 straight years as champion jockey 12 months ago.

Johnson was runner-up to McCoy for 16 of those seasons.

BBC Midlands Today's Dan Pallett spoke to Johnson about the huge support he has received from the racing world as he prepares to officially succeed McCoy as champion jockey on Saturday, when the 2015-16 National Hunt season ends at Sandown Park.
