Eugene Laverty honoured to receive 2014 Irish Motorcyclist award

Toomebridge rider Eugene Laverty is named as Irish Motorcyclist of the Year after finishing second in the 2013 World Superbike Championship.

The 24-year-old was presented with the Joey Dunlop Trophy at his home in Monaco by BBC Sport NI's Stephen Watson.

"This trophy means so much to me. Joey Dunlop was the reason I took up racing - the man I wanted to go and see when I was growing up, he's a true hero of mine," said Laverty.
