British Cycling's David Brailsford seeks Olympic doping consistency

British Cycling's head of performance David Brailsford seeks consistency in the rules over whether those with past doping offenses can compete at the Olympic Games.

Brailsford was speaking before American sprinter LaShawn Merritt on Thursday won his case, external to compete at 2012. Meanwhile, British cyclist David Millar, external is still banned under the rules of the British Olympic Association, external.

The BOA operates a lifetime Olympic ban for those found guilty of doping offences but Merritt successfully argued that a similar International Olympic Association rule went beyond World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) sanctions of a maximum two-year ban.
