Declan Kidney refuses to "make excuses" after watching South Africa fight back from nine points down at half-time to edge out his Ireland side in Dublin.

The 12-16 defeat is Ireland's fifth consecutive loss, but despite the "very disappointing" result, Kidney believes his side are "learning "the hard way".

Ireland will look to rectify their worst run of results for 14 years against Fiji on November 17.
