Ireland were 5-10 down at the break, but a try from Ailis Egan and a conversion plus a penalty from Niamh Briggs put them four points clear at the top of the championship table on Friday night.

The Italians were the only side who could catch them, but their thrashing by England on Saturday afternoon ensured Ireland lifted the trophy for the first time.
