Six Nations 2015: England anguish despite 55-35 win against France

England fall just six points short of overhauling Ireland at the top of the Six Nations table despite a thrilling 55-35 victory over France at Twickenham.

After Ireland beat Scotland earlier on Saturday, England came into the game needing a winning margin of 26 points, but even seven tries through George Ford, Billy Vunipola, Anthony Watson and two tries each for Jack Nowell and Ben Youngs were not enough for the hosts.

The result means that Ireland defend the Six Nations title with England edging ahead of Wales into second place.
