  2. Mets miss out as Reds into post-seasonpublished at 23:10 BST 28 September

ResultsImage source, MLB Bases Covered Live

The New York Mets have missed out on the post-season as they failed to get the win they needed with a 4-0 defeat at the Miami Marlins.

That means the Cincinnati Reds are the final team to make it into the play-offs despite their 4-2 defeat to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Toronto Blue Jays look very likely to win the American League East and avoid the Wild Card series as they lead 13-4 against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The New York Yankees got the win they needed against the Baltimore Orioles but still finish second and will thus play the Boston Red Sox in the Wild Card series (what a series that will be!)

The Detroit Tigers awful end to the season continued as they gave up the American League Central Division with defeat to the Red Sox.

The Cleveland Guardians win the division regardless of their result today and will have home advantage in the Wild Card series.

So after all that this is how the post-season looks.

  3. DODGERS WIN!published at 22:55 BST 28 September

Landon Knack finishes the job for the Dodgers with strikeouts of Luke Raley and JP Crawford before Leo Rivas is caught at third base.

The Dodgers head into the post-season with a series sweep of a very strong Mariners team and will be in action on Tuesday in the first game of the Wild Card series.

The Mariners will have a nice break before entering the post-season in the Division Series starting next Saturday.

  4. Postpublished at 22:50 BST 28 September

Shohei Ohtani is hitting for the cycle as the Dodgers finish up in the ninth but he is struck out swinging.

The Mariners are down to their final three outs now, but of course they will be playing more baseball soon in the post-season either way.

  5. Run scores!published at 22:41 BST 28 September

The Mariners have something to hold on to at the end of a tough day.

Randy Arozarena walks at the bottom of the eighth before Cal Raleigh inevitably get involved with a single to get Arozarena to third base.

Eugenio Suarez then grounds out but Arozarena is able to advance home and score.

Here are the latest scores elsewhere across the USA.

The Mets really need something soon if they are going to go ahead of the Reds and clinch a Wild Card spot.

The Blue Jays meanwhile are in good shape to win the American League East.

Kershaw made his debut all the way back in May 2008 and has been with the Dodgers ever since. What an incredible career and what a way to finish.

Nothing for Cal Raleigh this time though as Kershaw strikes him out for the final out of the inning.

Kershaw now has six strikeouts to his name this afternoon to just four hits. Will the Dodgers be regretting not adding him to their Wild Card roster?
