A clash of champions marks the final weekend of the regular season in Seattle as the Mariners welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers to T-Mobile Park.

The Dodgers secured the National League West title on Thursday with an 8-0 win in Arizona, while the Mariners won their first division title in the American League West since 2001 when they defeated the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.

The Mariners have also avoided the Wild Card by finishing as one of the better division winners in the American League and will receive a bye (and a week's rest) ahead of the Division Series starting on Saturday October 4th.

The Dodgers have not been so lucky and will have to play in the three-game Wild Card Series next week, but they will have home advantage against either the New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds or Arizona Diamondbacks.

No team has enjoyed a better September than the Mariners, who have won an extraordinary 17 out of their last 18 games to grab the title back from the Houston Astros and enter the post-season in superb form.

Meanwhile the Dodgers have won six of their last eight games and as the reigning World Series champions know how to get the job done when the pressure starts to build.

This weekend's season finale could well be a preview of the World Series with both the Dodgers and Mariners among the favourites to compete for the title in late October.

  10. MVP versus MVP?published at 14:15 BST 26 September

Shoehi Ohtani is on course to become the National League MVP for the third consecutive season.

The Most Valuable Players in both the American and National Leagues could be on the same field on Sunday when the Dodgers and Mariners meet in Seattle.

Shohei Ohtani looks nailed on to win the National League award for a third consecutive season after another remarkable campaign for the Dodgers both with the bat and ball in hand.

Ohtani leads the way in the National League in both home runs (54) and runs scored (144), a record which on its own would make him a strong contender just for his batting.

But on top of that he is among the top pitchers in the National League with 54 strikeouts and just nine walks in his 13 starts this season.

In short, Ohtani can do everything in baseball and he can do it extremely well. There is no other player like him which is why he stands out in the National League.

The Mariners' Cal Raleigh is a contender for the American League East MVP award.

The competition for the American League award is fiercer, with Yankees slugger Aaron Judge a decent contender to win his third MVP crown.

But he faces strong competition from the Mariners' Cal Raleigh, who became just the seventh player in MLB history to hit 60 home runs in one season earlier this week (you can watch the moment here).

That means nobody has hit more home runs than Raleigh this season and to add to the achievement he has done it as a switch-hitter, smashing 38 of those home runs left-handed and the other 22 right-handed.

Raleigh's importance to a Mariners side that won the American League West division for the first time since 2001 could ultimately elevate him above Judge when the final votes are counted.
