Plymouth Raiders head coach Gavin Love has said he is confident that his new-look side can challenge for silverware ahead of their season-opener on Sunday.

The Raiders squad start their 2011-12 campaign with a British Basketball League Trophy match at Guildford Heat.

"We want to achieve something this year and get into a final and make the top-four," Love told BBC Radio Devon.

"We're stronger in certain areas and have some more experience than last year," he added.

Plymouth have signed a host of new players to their squad including Ben Smith.

Love continued: "We definitely over-achieved so it's going to be difficult to reach those heights, but the goal is to be a top-four team.

"We're really looking forward to this weekend and playing the Guildford Heat on the road," he added.
