Guernsey's Ian and Alison Merrien make World Cup semis

Both Merriens face Scots in the semi-finals

Guernsey bowls players Ian and Alison Merrien are both into the semi-finals of the World Cup in Warilla, Australia.

Ian Merrien beat New Zealand's Shannon McIlroy 9-3 5-4 in his play-off match and faces Graeme Archer of Scotland for a place in the final.

His wife won through to the last four with an emphatic 10-3 15-2 victory over Hong Kong's Tammy Tham.

Alison Merrien also plays a Scot in the semis as she goes up against Claire Johnston.

In the junior competition Guernsey's Todd Priaulx lost to Kenta Hasebe from Japan 7-8 8-6 2-4 in the play-offs for a semi-final place.
