Stewart Anderson claimed a third World Indoor Bowls title with a 2-0 win over fellow Scot Alex Marshall in the open singles final.

Irvine bowler Anderson beat his East Lothian rival 12-7 13-10 at Potters Resort in Hopton-on-Sea, Norfolk.

It all came down to a tense final end after Marshall, 56, fought back from 6-1 down to trail just 11-10, but the 38-year-old's final ball clinched victory.

"It means everything," said Anderson on beating the six-time former winner.

Marshall holds the record with six titles, the last coming in 2015, but was unseeded for this year's championships.

"Every time I thought I had Alex he came again," added Anderson. "It was the best performance I've put in in the last 14 years I have been here."

England's Katherine Rednall, 28, claimed a third consecutive women's title earlier in the week, her sixth in total, after beating Scotland's Julie Forrest 2-1 in a deciding tie-break. Rednall lost the first set 9-5 but won the second 12-5 to force the decider.

Forrest managed to claim the mixed pairs title with Nick Brett, beating Ceri Ann Glen and open singles winner Anderson.

Anderson did, however, win the open pairs final with partner Darren Burnett, beating Jason Banks and Paul Foster.
