Carl Froch v Mikkel Kessler: Dane confident of another victory

Mikkel Kessler says he is in perfect shape for his rematch with Nottingham's IBF super-middleweight champion Carl Froch in London on Saturday.

The Dane, 33, has sparred with Welsh light-heavyweight world title holder Nathan Cleverly and England's George Groves before the bout.

"I'm feeling good. I'm feeling ready to fight Carl," said Kessler.

"I think I'm at my peak now, it couldn't be more perfect timing. I feel like no-one can beat me now."

Kessler, who holds the fringe WBA 'world' super-middleweight title (American Andre Ward is the WBA's 'super world' title-holder), feels his preparations for the bout have been helped by facing Cleverly and Groves in training.

"I get more hungry to fight them because I know how much they want it," added Kessler. "I had it before and you have to remember where you are from, and how you got there."

Kessler shrugged off reports that Froch, 35, was unhappy at Groves helping his opponent ahead of Saturday's meeting.

"Somebody told me this, that Carl was angry," said Kessler. "I don't know how good friends they are.

"But Groves is a good guy and I'm sure Carl had a lot of sparring partners that aren't English - although maybe not Danish ones."

Froch is eager to face Kessler for the second time, having lost for the first time in his professional career when the pair met in Denmark in 2010.

"I've done a lot and achieved a lot in the time since our first fight and it's been a long time coming but I'm going to take full advantage of my opportunity now," said Froch.

"I've improved a lot since our first fight because I've had more than 40 rounds of competitive, elite-level fighting against the best fighters in the world such as Arthur Abraham, Andre Ward and Lucian Bute."

Since losing to Kessler, Froch has won, lost and then won the world title again, memorably winning the IBF belt with a fifth-round stoppage of Bute in May 2012.

Froch added: "You're always learning, even at 35. You do little things in the gym and try new things in sparring. Some things work, some things don't, but whether it's positive or negative, you're learning."

Groves is also on the bill at London's O2 Arena on Saturday when he faces Uruguay's Noe Gonzalez Alcoba, while Cleverly successfully defended his WBO light-heavyweight title against Robin Krasniqi on 25 April.
