There was a huge smile on Terri Harper's face as she darted to the ring. Jeers for Rhiannon Dixon who took her time making the very short walk.

    Voting time!

We've just had a roll call among our team and we're pretty split, some picking Rhiannon Dixon, others going with Terri Harper.

Our ringside man Kal Sajad has had a shocking year so far, and is on quite the losing streak in regards to predictions.

Can he turn it around tonight? But we want to know what you think.

Hit thumbs up for Dixon and thumbs down for Harper.

Ring announcer David Diamante is getting in the ring. This could be an even earlier start than 21:30 BST.

There's a possibility I could make it back to my hotel in time for Match of the Day tonight.

  7. From chippy to three-time champion?published at 21:12 British Summer Time 28 September

The likes of Natasha Jonas, Chantelle Cameron and Savannah Marshall are arguably the bigger British names in female boxing.

Terri Harper rather unfairly goes under the radar, maybe down to her reserved demeanour. She has been such a great servant to British boxing.

Tonight she has an opportunity to become a three-weight world champion; she has come a long way from working in a chippy to subsidise her boxing career.

  8. The pharmacist dishing out hurtpublished at 21:11 British Summer Time 28 September

I visited Anthony Crolla's gym in March 2023 and spoke to Rhiannon Dixon about her journey from pharmacist to pro boxer. It's quite the remarkable story.

I am particularly impressed with the way in which she progressed over the past 18 months and grown in confidence.

Back then she was softly spoken and said she "doesn't like hurting people". Fast forward to Wednesday's news conference, she spoke boldly about her career ambitions and was happy to bite back at Terri Harper when the challenger predicted a knockout win.

My colleague, Emma Smith, went along to the same gym before her world title tilt in April. That day Dixon described herself as the "anomaly of women's boxing". Full of confidence!

  9. 'That was definitely set up' - Ryanpublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 28 September

Mayer beats Ryan by majority decision

Sandy Ryan took to X to address what happened before her loss to Mikaela Mayer at The Theater inside Madison Square Garden.

Mayer denies any hand in the incident, saying she was "shocked" to hear about it.

"Still trying to come to terms with what happened last night," Ryan wrote.

"I know I shouldn’t have fought after I was attacked leaving my hotel but I couldn’t let them win like that. I was fighting off empty and still felt I won the fight."

Speaking after the fight, Ryan, who was defending her title for the third time, said she believes the incident contributed to her narrow loss.

"I’m obviously disappointed, and I’m not taking [anything] away from the decision, but before coming to the venue I had a hit and run [with paint]," she said.

"And that was definitely set up."

  10. Chaos in New York as Ryan loses titlepublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 28 September

Mayer beats Ryan by majority decision

I'm sure you've all caught up on the chaos that took place in New York during the early hours of this morning where Mikaela Mayer beat Sandy Ryan for her WBO welterweight title, but here's a little rundown for those who haven't.

After leaving her hotel to make her way to the venue, Ryan was hit with a can of red paint.

Yes, you've read that right, a can of red paint. Ryan decided to continue with the fight anyway, where two scorecards read 97-93 and 96-94 for Mayer, while a third judge saw it a 95-95 draw.

    Should she have pulled out?

  12. What's happened tonight?published at 20:59 British Summer Time 28 September

Thanks to Kal, we already know the outcome of Galal Yafai's fight but what about the other action in Sheffield tonight?

In the co-main event, Peter McGrail brilliantly stopped Brad Foster with a vicious body punch.

After Yafai's impressive victory, George Liddard's TKO win over George Davey took him to 8-0.

Earlier tonight, Olympic gold medalist Galal Yafai was given a runabout before his mouth-watering all-British flyweight contest with Sunny Edwards in November.

Yafai made short work of Mexican Sergio Orozco Oliva to record an eighth pro win.

The Birmingham boxer called the shots, dictating the pace of the contest before stepping it on the gas and stopping his opponent one minute and 49 seconds into round number three.

His brothers Gamal and Kal (great name) watched on from the corner.

  14. Must-win for Harper & Dixon looking for statementpublished at 20:53 British Summer Time 28 September

    Kal Sajad
BBC Sport at Canon Medical Arena, Sheffield

    Good evening!

For the second week running, we have an all-British world title fight.

Now, this is worlds apart from 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium for Daniel Dubois v Anthony Joshua. I was told the Canon Medica Arena holds up to 3,000 but there are significantly less in here at the moment.

Champion Rhiannon Dixon is still an unknown quantity but, with former lightweight world champion Anthony Crolla (also the nicest guy in boxing) in her corner, she will be hoping for a statement win.

Terri Harper meanwhile describes this as a "last roll of the dice" as she chases a world title in a third weight division. She looks in unbelievable shape and will lean on all her experience.

  15. Welcome back!published at 20:51 British Summer Time 28 September

From 96,000 at Wembley to 2,500 in Sheffield, we're back with more world championship boxing!

This time we've got Rhiannon Dixon defending her WBO lightweight world title against Terri Harper.

Stay tuned for all of the action!
