There are plenty of was to digest fight week content across BBC Sport this week and one of those is via the 5 Live Boxing with Steve Bunce podcast.

In the second episode of the week, which was released on Wednesday, Bunce sat down with two people that know Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn better than most.

Harlem Eubank - the cousin of Eubank - and John Ryder, who has been part of the same gym as Benn for 10 years, were on hand to offer insight.

  3. What is the rehydration clause?published at 18:16 British Summer Time 25 April

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn both agreed to a rehydration clause when they signed on the dotted line to get this fight over the line.

The middleweight limit is 11st 6lb and the clause stipulates they can not weigh more than 12st 1lb on Saturday morning.

Benn's team believe the rehydration clause makes this contest more of a level playing field, with their fighter coming up two divisions.

Fighters regularly shed some fat during the period of their training camp to get close to the agreed or stipulated weight limit.

Prior to the weigh-in, which takes place the day before fight night, they may opt to dehydrate to lose the final bit of weight.

Shedding water weight allows them to refuel with food and water much easier.

Eubank, who is the more experienced fighter at middleweight, usually puts on about 14lb after a weigh-in.

Before today's weigh-in, Eubank said his two options were to either put on what he usually would and then cut 4lb early on Saturday or remain within the 10lb window.

As promised, here's a bit more context on what unfolded this morning.

It's one of those behind-the-curtain moments when the facade of the ceremonial weigh-in is exposed.

All fighters hit the scales earlier today at a hotel in London and that's where it came unstuck for Chris Eubank Jr.

Eubank weighed 0.2lb over the 11st 6lb limit on the first attempt and was still 0.05lb over the middleweight limit when he returned for a second time.

Conor Benn – who has operated at welterweight for most of his career – came in lighter than expected at 11st 2lb.

Both fighters are bound by a rehydration clause that prohibits them from weighing more than 12st 1lb on Saturday morning.

  5. A (kind of) face-off at the grand rivalspublished at 18:10 British Summer Time 25 April

The weigh-in drama has really kicked this fight week into action.

We began with an underwhelming grand arrivals event on Tuesday. Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr faced off, if you can call it that. They were kept a good couple of metres, maybe more, apart.

On Wednesday, we had the media workouts. The pair shadowboxed, hit the pads and went through the motions in a makeshift ring as every boxing expert – and wannabe expert – analysed their every move.

Thursday's news conference was entertaining enough. There was some spite between the fighters, some heckling of Eddie Hearn and an emotional Eubank opened up about some of his personal issues. But it was no egg-gate.

Eubank: 'My father thinks I'm a disgrace'

Let's take the opportunity to rewind 24 hours and look at what unfolded during yesterday's news conference.

We got the usual back-and-forth that you would expect from two fighters at that type of occasion, but there was also a really raw moment when Chris Eubank Jr opened up about the fractured relationship with his father and the death of his brother.

Conor Benn vowed to inflict "pain" on Eubank when they meet on Saturday.

"What is pain, though?" retorted Eubank, whose brother Sebastian died in 2021 aged 29. "I have a brother who is buried in the desert in Dubai - that is pain.

"I have his son, three years old, he asks: 'Why can't I see my daddy? Why can't he take me to school?' That is pain."

Eubank went on to speak about his father Chris Eubank Sr, who has not been involved in any of the build-up and is not expected to attend the fight.

"My own father, a man I idolised for my entire life, and he doesn't speak to me," added Jr.

"We haven't spoken for years and he thinks I'm a disgrace. These things are what pain is to me."

There was a long queue already forming outside the Business Design Centre when I got here at around 17:00 BST.

This is the first event of the week which is open to the public - it will be interesting to see the reception Conor Benn will get.

Chris Eubank Jr says both men might get booed on the way to the ring tomorrow evening.

Hands up who thought we'd get through this fight week without any hiccups?

I'm going to save us all the time of actually doing a vote and suggest the majority felt we would get some drama.

We'll get into the finer details over the next couple of hours but if you're just catching up after a long day at work then here's the scoop - Chris Eubank Jr missed weight by 0.05lb this morning and has subsequently been fined £375,000.

Will Conor Benn make reference to that this evening? Again, the chances feel high on that one.

    Let's get into it.
