A dynamite performance from Daniel Dubois.

He might not be the best behind a microphone but he sure knows how to throw a punch.

Dubois silenced his critics and a fair few of the 96,000 in attendance at Wembley with a dominant performance from start to finish against Anthony Joshua.

Dubois said pre-fight that he needed to legitimise his position as champion and no one can cast any doubt over his standing now.

Read Kal Sajad's full report here.

The heavyweight division is wide open now and Dubois could soon find himself in an undisputed bout if he plays his cards right.

    What a night!

I'm sure he'll [Anthony Joshua] exercise that rematch clause, that's a given. He'll need a rest but it's a dangerous fight, this guy's growing in confidence all the time but he'll believe he can hurt Dubois, he'll believe he can beat him but full credit to Daniel Dubois, he deserves all the credit tonight.

Daniel's potential is as we see, that he can beat anyone else. The thing about the heavyweight division is you can lose quickly. Daniel Dubois has that vulnerability to him. A good slippery boxer can cause him problems.

I was at the fight, on my way home. Never seen a boxer with ZERO defensive attributes until AJ. And I’d class myself as an AJ fan. Top level boxing career over.

    Jon, Welwyn Garden City

AJ is a fighter through and through. He’s at his best when he’s coming back from the brink. This certainly won’t be the end for his career. He’s a once in a generation fighter who’s still got more to give. He’ll soon be back on his feet. I have faith.

When he's [Joshua] on, he can beat anyone. He commands a level of respect and he has that. He's had that in abundance. Even tonight, he's walking in as the challenger but coming in second.

If he stays at the higher level, can he command that respect in the build-up? I think he needs that.

Let's be fair, AJ's comeback and rebuild from the Usyk losses was in name only. Sub-standard top 30 men and a circus sideshow account-booster. All the old failings laid bare tonight. This is the end.

It was a huge right hand AJ shipped in the first round. He never gave up and I'm so proud of him. He hurt Daniel Dubois but he got greedy and got caught again. He couldn't get up. If we're going to lose then losing to a British heavyweight makes it better. He'll need a rest.

  10. Parker calls for Duboispublished at 23:01 British Summer Time 21 September

    Dubois beats Joshua by knockout

WBO interim heavyweight champion Joseph Parker is part of the Dazn team tonight and he has just put his name in the hat to take on Dubois next.

With WBA, WBO and WBC champion Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury not meeting until 21 December, Parker feels it could work as an eliminator with the winner from each of those two bouts squaring off in an undisputed contest.

"If he [Dubois] wants to get it on then let's go," Parker tells DAZN.

Parker has won his last four fights, including victories against Deontay Wilder and Zhileli Zhang.

Would you like to see that?

Thumbs up for Dubois v Parker next or thumbs down for Dubois v winner of Usyk-Fury next.

Anthony Joshua speaking to DAZN after being stopped by Daniel Dubois: "We came up short as a team.

"You know I'm ready to kick off in the ring but I'm going to keep it respectful.

"Before I came here, I always say to myself I'm a fighter for life. You keep rolling the dice. I had a fast and sharp opponent, a lot of mistakes from my end."

Give DDD the praise he is due.... that was a great fight, but AJ was not right after the first round. Left hand to low from the first bell. Question is can AJ come back, does he want to come back.... big questions coming his way!

Queensberry promoter Frank Warren said to DAZN: "It was a phenomenal fight and I always felt it would be a Hagler-Hearns situation. AJ showed his heart right until the end. It was a brilliant fight.

"I always felt Dubois would do it and he has. It's not a turnaround, it was there. He was a young man and had double fractures in his eyes, he couldn't fight. He hurt him [Usyk], I'd like to see him fight him now but he has to fight Tyson now.

"Everyone here has seen a champion's performance tonight. He's done everything you could ask for. AJ caught him with a shot over there and I was worried. He's a young man and on top of his game, he can improve."

A couple of interested parties were sat ringside watching Dubois put that clinic on Joshua.

WBC, WBA and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

The pair are set to meet in a rematch on 21 December and Dubois has surely just done enough to earn his spot against the winner for the chance to become undisputed.

No doubt Dubois will be over in Saudi Arabia when Usyk and Fury square off.

Very smooth from Dubois. AJ earlier this week referring to his “gladiator spirit”. Knocks AJ out, first thing he says on the mice “are you not entertained”… I doubt Hearn is entertained.

"I want to get to the top of this sport and reach my full potential.

Dubois might have got this belt through messy boxing politics but this is certainly a heck of a way to make the most of that! Will be interesting indeed to see who's next...
