There was a lot made of Katie's head coming in during their second fight, but it was just a result how how she fights rather than malicious. Still, she is going to need to be very careful with it this time as the referee will be on her and may be quick to deduct points. Katie may not be getting any younger and Serrano is a great fighter, but it's still 2-0 to Taylor and I feel she has Serrano's number.

They've fought twice, Katie Taylor has won twice but this fight just feels huge, doesn't it?

In the first fight, the Irishwoman was outworked in Madison Square Garden but still came away with the W.

Serrano had a 173-147 edge in landed punches, bolstered by a 44-14 edge in round five.

They landed within six punches of each other in eight of the 10 rounds. Serrano landed 36% of her power shots and Taylor landed 47% of hers.

Serrano's 173 landed punches were the most by an opponent of Taylor's, while Taylor's 147 landed were most by an opponent of Serrano.

The fight that had Madison Square Garden as loud as ever.

Katie Taylor came through on a split decision to retain her undisputed lightweight title in a fight brimming with action, heart and excellence.

Taylor got the verdict on two cards, by 97-93 and 96-93 margins, with one judge scoring it 96-94 to Serrano.

"It was an absolute war for 10 rounds," Taylor said. "I'm grateful to be in this position and sell out Madison Square Garden. Look what we've just done."

The American wins via unanimous decision and retain her belts.

Sorry for the graphic picture but who can forget this huge cut Amanda Serrano had to fight with for the latter part of the second fight with Katie Taylor?

The cut has left a scar on Serrano's eyebrow and that could of course reopen.

"I'm going to use my head, but not the way it was used on me," Serrano said. "We're going to be smarter. We're going to be smarter, work smarter. I work hard in every training camp so I didn't work harder for this camp, but I did work a lot smarter for this fight.

"And I believe that we can come out victorious. We will come out victorious."

Amanda's a warrior and we believe in her. She's been able to hurt Katie and hopefully this time she can get a stoppage. I think they're both really locked in. You can feel the respect but there's also hatred. I think they both have a lot to prove.

What usually happens in boxing is the champion walks to the ring second and is announced second but not in this case.

Katie Taylor will put her world titles on the line but she will be acting like the challenger.

"I know that I'm coming out on stage first here and being announced in the ring on Friday night first, as well," said Taylor.

"I don't care about any of that stuff. My mindset doesn't change, this stuff is nonsense, really. I'm stepping in there with a champion's mindset, I'm giving it my all, and as hungry as ever."

Jennifer Miranda has done a good job of stopping Alycia Baumgardner from finding any rhythm in the night's penultimate fight.

Her style is different from most and the American is still trying to figure it out.

There has been an awful lot of talk from the Amanda Serrano camp about the result of the first two fights.

The fact of the matter is Katie Taylor is 2-0 against Serrano and wants her to stop "whining and complaining".

"The fact is that I am 2-0 against her," said Taylor. "Opinions are opinions, but facts are facts, and you can't get away from those facts. And, yeah, I guess I'm just sick of the complaining and whining from her team.

"I'm going into this fight unbeaten against Amanda Serrano, and I plan to stay on being against her."
