Summary

  1. A fun but strange news conferencepublished at 19:02 British Summer Time

Well that was fun, if not strange at times, wasn't it?

We saw Oleksandr Usyk, dressed as the video game character in Hitman, Agent 47. He typically said very little, while Tyson Fury was humble but confident throughout.

Then we saw the Gypsy King tickle Usyk at the face-off, prompting a smile from the Ukrainian.

The overriding feeling from the news conference is that there is a great deal of respect between the heavyweight pair following Usyk's victory in the first fight in May.

And perhaps Fury has given up on the mind games?

You can read all about it in our man Kal Sajad's report from the Guildhall shortly.

Roll on the rematch on 21 December.

This outcome of this fight will dictate the immediate future of the heavyweight division.

If Tyson Fury wins, we could have a deciding trilogy bout with Oleksandr Usyk or an all-British undisputed heavyweight title fight between the Gypsy King and Daniel Dubois.

If Fury loses, perhaps then it would make complete sense for him to face Anthony Joshua in what could effectively be a bout where the loser retires.

Dubois could then attempt to right his wrong against Usyk after his loss to the Ukrainian last year.

Or maybe Joshua will beat Dubois in a mooted rematch before then and then who knows.

    Are you keeping up?

What we can say for certain is that there are plenty of big fights to be made in 2025.

Usyk looking like Hitman, is there really such a thing as a corrupt arms dealer? Aren't they fairly shady characters anyway?

  5. 'I believe this will be my time' - Furypublished at 18:48 British Summer Time

We have a little bit more from Tyson Fury from earlier when he was asked his closing thoughts on Oleksandr Usyk.

"Last time it wasn’t my time to win or god would have given me victory. I'm very happy Usyk got the decision, that was meant to be, and we’re going to find out what is meant to be on 21 December."

"I believe it's my time this time and all things that happen, positive or negative, are lessons and we must learn from these things as humans, boxers, fathers and husbands.

"What we know is to go out there and knock each other out, and to put on a show for the paying customer.

"I hope you guys will enjoy this fight as much as I will.”

  9. Usyk and Fury face offpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time

The pair are facing off now, before Tyson Fury breaks the stalemate by tickling Oleksandr Usyk's ribs.

    The Ukrainian doesn't bite.

It's a much more relaxed exchange between the pair than on many previous occasions, and you get the feeling there is endless respect between them after that first fight in May.

In response, Oleksandr Usyk is asked about his outfit, consisting of a shaven head, black suit and red tie with black gloves, and suitcase.

What's in the suitcase, he is asked: "It's just character."

Usyk proceeds to open his briefcase, before pulling out a picture from the first fight of him punching Fury.

He then walks over and asks Fury to sign it two pictures, which the Briton does with a smile.

A strange but nice moment between the pair.

  11. 'Got to move on from the first fight' - Furypublished at 18:35 British Summer Time

    More from Tyson Fury now:

“We did the fight in May, a great fight, I know people keep going on about it but it's in the past now, we've got to move on."

"I have to be a little bit more focused and smart to get the victory. My rematches with people, I always end up knocking them out, so I'm envisaging something similar against Usyk.

"All I can do is train well, eat well, go to bed early, listen to the people around me and the rest is in god’s hands."

  12. 'We hope the best man wins'published at 18:28 British Summer Time

The cameras zoom in on Tyson Fury, who is sat, arms folded, staring into space as his manager Spencer Brown backs the Briton to beat Oleksandr Usyk.

Usyk’s manager Egis Kilmas responds, paying tribute to the pair’s last clash, describing it as an "incredible fight", before urging the judges to be fair in the rematch and wishing the "best man wins" on 21 December.

  13. 'What is going on in this building?'published at 18:23 British Summer Time

The pair's respective coaching teams are talking now, before promotor Eddie Hearn has his say.

"What is going on this building? Eddie Hearn on my table!" says Tyson Fury, who is promoted by Hearn's long-time rival-turned-friend Frank Warren.

"I do feel a bit like a competition winner. Sorry Oleksandr. Whoever wins this fight, I will be on their side after," Hearn responds.

It's not often a promoter who doesn't promote either man would be at the top table, but it's a brave new world in boxing!

  14. 'Four and a half years since I was the under dog' - Furypublished at 18:19 British Summer Time

Tyson Fury is first to speak:

"It's been four and half years since I was the underdog, in the first Deontay Wilder fight. I'm looking forward to a fantastic fight, Oleksandr won the first fight fair and square."

"I'll be a bit more focussed, no lack of complacency and there's nothing drastic I have to change. I will be victorious."

    Oleksandr Usyk responds:

“Hi everybody, I'm happy to be here. What is my motivation? I don’t have motivation, only my regime, my concentration, this is my motivation.”
