Middlesex boosted their promotion prospects by completing a 10-wicket victory over Leicestershire before lunch on the final day at Lord's.
Toby Roland-Jones struck twice to finish with 4-64 as Leicestershire's final three wickets added 30 to be bowled out for 338.
Set only 36 to win, Chris Rogers and Andrew Strauss took just 5.1 overs to see Middlesex to their target.
The victory took Middlesex to the top of Division Two above Northants.
Long-time leaders Northants will reclaim top spot if they can beat third-placed Surrey at Northampton.
But Middlesex will fancy their chances of returning to Division One as they have two games left to play, compared to Northants' one.
POST-MATCH REACTION
Middlesex stand-in captain Chris Rogers told BBC London 94.9
"I'm lucky to be captain of a pretty good side and everyone seems to be playing well, but we can't get ahead of ourselves, we've got a couple of games to finish off and they're very important.
"I was pretty disappointed to lose the toss. I thought their one hope was to get early wickets, like Glamorgan did against us here, and put us on the back foot that way.
"But it was an amazing partnership [between Andrew Strauss and Sam Robson] and from then on there was probably going to only be one result."
