Derbyshire resist Glamorgan fightback

Derbyshire resisted Glamorgan's fightback with the ball as they ended day two 187 runs ahead.

Resuming on 37-4, the hosts were bowled out for just 95 as Derbyshire bowler Jonathan Clare took four wickets to end the innings with figures of 5-17.

The visitors then struggled to 37-4 as Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques dismissed three Derbyshire batsmen.

But Ross Whiteley (39) and an unbeaten 55-run partnership from Clare and David Wainwright left Derbyshire on 152-6.

"Glamorgan were dismissed for just 95 in their first innings, their lowest total against Derbyshire since they were all out for 85 at the County Ground in 1970.

"Twelve wickets fell on the second day in bowler-friendly conditions, but Derbyshire's Ross Whiteley and David Wainwright stemmed the flow with a partnership of 62 for the sixth wicket.

"Chasing a target in excess of 200 will be a stiff task for Glamorgan's batsmen.

"They will need to play far better than they have done this season to have any chance of victory."
