Northants have agreed new deals with Alex Wakely, David Willey and Kyle Coetzer keeping the trio at the club until the end of 2014.

Wakely, 23, has deputised for captain Andrew Hall whilst he was injured.

Head coach David Ripley said: "They will play important roles in all competitions over the coming years.

"We are bringing a core of young players through together and surrounded by the right senior players, this news bodes well for Northants' future."

Whilst Wakely has scored 577 runs in 12 County Championship matches at an average of 36.06, all-rounder Willey has scored 400 and taken 37 wickets.

Willey has also been named the supporters' club's Player of the Year.

Coetzer, who joined the club in September 2011, has hit 539 first-class runs at an average of 35.93.

Chief executive David Smith added: "Securing these three players on new deals is a real boost for everyone at the club.

"I would expect both Alex and David to have some form of involvement in the ECB Emerging Players Programme this winter.

"Kyle will continue to benefit from the international experience with Scotland.

"The club is also actively looking to recruit two new players to add to the squad to assist us in being more competitive in white ball cricket."
