Jersey is to host the 2013 World Cricket League division six tournament.

The event, from 21-28 July, sees six teams from around the world play one another as they aim to progress up through the ICC World Cricket League.

Jersey will face Bahrain, Kuwait, Argentina and the top two sides from World Cricket League division seven.

"As one of the competing countries we are asked to submit an expression of interest to host it and it was good enough to proceed," Jersey Cricket Board chief executive Chris Minty told BBC South West Sport.

"Kuwait and Argentina also expressed an interest so we've done quite well," he added.

And Minty believes home advantage will be a huge boost for the island side, who are trying to get back to division five after being relegated to division six in 2010., external

"This is great for Jersey cricket and hopefully will be favourable for our team.

"It means we don't have to take our boys away to acclimatise for the tournament and take two weeks off work," he added.

Jersey last had an ICC tournament in the island in 2011 when they hosted the European Division One Twenty20 championship jointly with Guernsey, having hosted the 50 over competition two years previously.
