World Twenty20 2014: Faf du Plessis to miss England match

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis is suspended for Saturday's crucial World Twenty20 match against England.

Du Plessis has been banned for one game because of a slow over rate against the Netherlands, his second offence in 12 months in the same format.

Both teams need a win to boost their chances of reaching the semi-finals.

If New Zealand beat the Netherlands in the first Group One match on Saturday morning, then a defeat would see England knocked out of the competition.

After a weather-affected defeat by New Zealand in their opening match, England revived their chances with a win over Sri Lanka, as Alex Hales became the first England player to score an international Twenty20 century.

South Africa lost to Sri Lanka but have since completed narrow wins over New Zealand and the Netherlands.

"They are a very dangerous side and one we won't take for granted," England vice-captain Eoin Morgan told BBC Sport. "It's going to be a very competitive game. We know where their strengths lie, and more importantly where our strengths lie.

"A lot of guys will gain a lot of confidence from what Alex did, and it's great to know we have match winners like that at the top of the order."

England's weakness against the Sri Lankans was their fielding, as they struggled to cope with a wet ball under the floodlights, and Broad is calling on his side to improve that aspect of their game.

He said: "Our batting is obviously firing but we need to up the standard of our fielding. Our fielding has been our strong point in the last three weeks, we have been awesome, so to miss chances against key men [against Sri Lanka] hurt us.

"If we take our catches we will stand a much better chance on Saturday."

England's final match of the group is against the Netherlands on Monday.

Broad, fined for a slow over rate against Sri Lanka, faces a one-match ban if he commits the offence again in the next year.
