Gloucestershire appoint Richard Dawson as head coach

Richard Dawson spent his final playing years at Gloucestershire
Former England spin bowler Richard Dawson has returned to Gloucestershire as head coach.
The 34-year-old retired from playing at Nevil Road in 2011 and was appointed to their backroom staff.
He left the club last year to return to Yorkshire, where he had spent the majority of his 12-year playing career.
But Dawson has now taken charge at Bristol following the departure of director of cricket John Bracewell.

His figures in that innings of 4-16 were the best of his Test career - and in his seven Test appearances, he was only on the winning side once, in the last of them against Australia at Sydney in January 2003. |
He played in seven Tests for England between 2001 and 2003 and during his career took 199 first-class wickets at an average of 44.07.
"This is my first head coach role so I know it will be tough but I am looking forward to the challenge," said Dawson.
"During my time with Yorkshire I was fortunate to work with some outstanding coaches, players and backroom staff. I learned a lot from them and look forward to putting that into practice at Gloucestershire.
"We have a good young squad here and my aim will be to help them compete in all competitions. We will be working hard every day to try and make the small improvements that will bring us success on the field."
