All-rounders Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali have been ruled out of England's final World Cup match against Afghanistan on Friday because of injury.

Woakes has a left third metatarsal stress reaction and Moeen has a left-sided abdominal strain.

The Afghanistan game in Sydney has no bearing on the competition with both teams already eliminated.

Seamer Woakes and opener Moeen, who have played in every game, will be reassessed when the team return home.

Moeen scored a century against Scotland and has taken fours wickets with his off-spin, while Woakes has taken five wickets at an average of 46.

England were knocked out of the one-day tournament after losing to Bangladesh on Monday, their fourth defeat in five matches.

They next go to the West Indies for a Test series in April before meeting New Zealand and Australia in England this summer.
