Kyle Coetzer has been added to Scotland's squad for July's World T20 qualifiers following the withdrawal of Freddie Coleman.

Northamptonshire batsman Coetzer, 31, was "hugely disappointed" at initially being left out .

But Cricket Scotland insists it acted in Coetzer's "best interest" by "allowing him to concentrate on securing his future in county cricket".

Coleman has pulled out of the 15-man squad "due to personal circumstances".

Cricket Scotland said the original decision to overlook Coetzer, who has captained his country, had been taken after consultation with the player, but added that there had been a misunderstanding.

Its statement said: "Having since discussed this with the Kyle, he clearly believed that, if he was unable to secure a county loan deal through July, he would be included in the squad for the competition."

Coleman will not take part in the qualifiers

It added that another meeting has taken place in the last 24 hours and insist there is "no rift between the player and the organisation".

Coetzer was vice-captain at this year's World Cup and the team's leading run-scorer with an average of 42.

Craig Wallace, George Munsey and teenage left-arm spinner Mark Watt were called up by head coach Grant Bradburn, along with recently-qualified Con de Lange.

The South Africa-born 34-year-old made his Scotland debut in last week's Intercontinental Cup draw with Afghanistan.

The 14-team World T20 qualifying event will be staged across eight venues in Ireland and Scotland from 9-26 July.

Scotland will host the qualifying tournament's Pool B, with Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Canada, Kenya and Oman competing in a round-robin contest between.

Hong Kong, Ireland, Jersey, Namibia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea and United States make up Pool A.

The two group winners automatically qualify for the World Twenty20 to be held in India in March and April next year.

The sides finishing second and third in each group will play cross-over matches, with the two winners progressing.

The losing sides from the two play-off matches will then play the fourth-placed sides from each of the two groups in cross-over matches, with the winners completing the 16-team line-up.

Scotland, who failed to reach the 2014 World Twenty20, will warm up with a three-match series against co-hosts Ireland later this month.
