Glamorgan 167-3: Ingram 73 not out, Meschede 34 not out

Derbyshire: Yet to bat

Derbyshire took two early wickets before Glamorgan fought back as poor weather affected much of the first day's play at Chesterfield.

Tony Palladino bowled opener Jacques Rudolph for one, while Ben Wright was trapped lbw by Mark Footitt for a duck.

Will Bragg and Colin Ingram put on 33 for the third wicket, before bad light caused a lengthy delay in proceedings.

Bragg fell for 37 after the restart, but Ingram remained unbeaten on 73 as the visitors raced to 167-3 at stumps.

Glamorgan's response was hindered by the loss of wicketkeeper Mark Wallace, who retired hurt without scoring having faced 13 deliveries.

His withdrawal brought Craig Meschede to the crease, who struck a quick-fire 34 not out in an unbroken 94-run fourth-wicket stand with Ingram.

Derbyshire captain Wayne Madsen:

"We got off to really good start this morning but it was a very poor last session when he bowled too many boundary balls.

"I know it's a quick-scoring ground but we were poor in our execution and gave them too many boundaries."

Glamorgan batsman Colin Ingram:

"It was a tough day going on and off (for weather interruptions) but I'm really excited by the way the guys played today.

"They really played positively in the 32 overs we were out there and made the most of it.

"We want to play positive cricket and if the bad ball is there, then jump on it. Even with a bit of moisture around, the ball skidded on and there were scoring opportunities."
