Glamorgan coach Toby Radford says it would be a great achievement to win a record fifth consecutive Championship match.

The Welsh county are strongly placed going into the final day in Chesterfield, having forced Derbyshire to follow on.

"It would be great to get this fifth win and break a record," he said.

"We've talked about it this week, there's a great spirit in the camp and we're really playing well."

Derbyshire will resume on 37-0 in their second innings, still 121 runs behind Glamorgan.

The hosts were bowled out for 252 in their first innings with 20-year-old seam bowler Ruaidhri Smith taking a career-best 3-23 as well as claiming a run-out, in only his second Championship appearance of the season.

"There's good competition - but that spurs you on to greater levels, there's a good atmosphere in the team and we're all enjoying one another's success," said Smith, a student at Bristol University.

"It would be absolutely brilliant (to get the record) after a couple of years struggling. This year we've gone really well, to get that fifth win and keep us on a roll would be just perfect."

Glamorgan had to face fierce opposition from the elements at Chesterfield with rain and bad light meaning the loss of nearly 30 overs on day three.

Batsman Will Bragg is continuing to take part in the game despite a fractured middle finger, while Mark Wallace has kept wicket despite being in some pain after dislocating his thumb in the same session on the first evening.
