Glamorgan 8 pts, Derbyshire 5 pts

Ruaidhri Smith produced career-best figures as Glamorgan forced Derbyshire to follow-on at Chesterfield.

Smith took 3-23 as Derbyshire lost their final five wickets for 83 and were all out for 252 to trail by 158 on first innings.

Billy Godleman made 53 and Shiv Thakor 41, but the home side fell nine runs short of the total needed to avoid the follow-on.

They reached 37-0 in their second innings before bad light ended play.

Starting the day on 122-2, Derbyshire soon lost skipper Wayne Madsen (24), Godleman, who was lbw to Graham Wagg, and Wes Durston with only 15 runs added.

Thakor stood firm for over two and a quarter hours before falling to Andrew Salter, and Taylor hit two boundaries and three sixes, but they were all out in 86 overs.

Opening the second innings, Hamish Rutherford (15) and Godleman (20) batted cautiously to prevent further damage.

With an uneven weather forecast for the final day, Glamorgan will have to bowl well as they search for their fifth consecutive win, which would be a record for the county.

Glamorgan seamer Ruaidhri Smith told BBC Wales Sport:

"They gifted me a run-out and it was nice to go on from there, but it's been a good team effort by all the guys.

"I don't think I've ever come on and off the field (because of the weather) so many times, but it probably upset their flow rather than ours and gave us good rest in between the spells

"It was a shame that we couldn't bowl a few more overs and be a bit further on in the game."

Derbyshire batsman Wayne Madsen:

"With the forecast being fair tomorrow, we are going to have to bat most of the day which is possible.

"We batted for 80-odd overs in the first innings and we will probably have to bat for over 110 and get ahead.

"The realistic objective for us is to try and bat through the day."
