Hampshire: Liam Dawson believes in County Championship survival

Hampshire's Liam Dawson says he is relishing the battle as his county fight for County Championship survival.

Hampshire visit Nottinghamshire on Tuesday knowing they must win to have any chance of staying in Division One.

Nearest rivals Sussex and Somerset face champions Yorkshire at Headingley and Warwickshire at Taunton respectively.

"As a professional cricketer, to be involved in these sorts of games is something I'm relishing," all-rounder Dawson told BBC Radio Solent.

Hampshire currently occupy the second relegation place in Division One alongside already relegated Worcestershire and trail seventh-placed Sussex by 16 points.

If Sussex avoid defeat against Yorkshire and take at least nine points, and Somerset earn at least seven against Warwickshire, Hampshire will be relegated regardless of their own result.

Hampshire's task at Trent Bridge could be made even tougher with the prospect of England bowler Stuart Broad being made available for the home side.

"You get tough games in Division One," Dawson added. "I think Stuart Broad will be featuring, but to test yourself against those type of bowlers is what it's all about.

"But, we can win the game and pick up a good amount of bonus points. The positive is that there's a lot of England players back available for Yorkshire as well so it will be a tough game for Sussex.

"Hopefully Yorkshire can do us a massive favour up at Headingley."
