Guernsey secured an eight-wicket win over Tanzania to sit top of the World Cricket League 5 table after the opening weekend.

In a match cut to 42 overs per side, Tanzania were reduced to 58-8 but Arun Dagar's 35 helped them to 108 all out.

In reply, opener Matt Stokes hit 44 not out and man of the match Ollie Newey made 33 as Guernsey reached the target with 15.5 overs to spare.

The Channel Islanders face Nigeria next on Tuesday at Grainville.

In the other matches on Sunday, Jersey beat Vanuatu by 102 runs while the tournament top-seeds Oman bowled the Nigerians out for just 39 to win by 181 runs.

The eventual finalists in the six-team event will both win promotion to League Four in Los Angeles, while the bottom three will be relegated from the World League structure.
