World League Five: Peter Gough hails Jersey after win over Guernsey

Jersey captain Peter Gough has hailed his side's performance after they beat rivals Guernsey by seven wickets.

The win kept their World Cricket League Division Five promotion hopes alive going into their final group game, against Nigeria on Friday.

Should Jersey beat the African side and Guernsey lose to unbeaten Oman then the hosts will make the final and go up to World Cricket League Division Four.

"It was a brilliant performance," Gough told BBC Radio Jersey after the match.

"It was a difficult wicket to bowl on because it's so flat, but once we'd got past the first 10 overs and we could have a few more fielders out there the bowlers squeezed it brilliantly."

Jersey have twice made the fourth tier of the World Cricket League, but in both 2008 and 2014 they were relegated straight back to the fifth level.

"The last two games I'm really pleased with how we've batted and bowled, so we feel we're in a good position to hopefully win another game on Friday," added Gough.

"We want to make sure we win on Friday and get a chance to play Oman again."
