Specsavers County Championship Division Two, Spitfire Ground (day two):

Glamorgan 186 & 33-4: Stevens 2-10

Kent 436: Crawley 168, Billings 85; Bull 3-64

Glamorgan (3 pts) trail Kent (8 pts) by 217 runs

Young Kent batsman Zak Crawley pushed his team to the brink of promotion with a superb maiden century, reaching 168 against Glamorgan.

Crawley's classy knock off 237 balls steered his side to 436, a lead of 250 runs as they collected maximum bonus points.

He shared a stand of 132 with captain Sam Billings (85) for the sixth wicket.

Demoralised Glamorgan then slumped to 33-4 at the close with 217 more runs needed to avoid an innings defeat.

Veteran all-rounder Darren Stevens took two wickets after earlier passing 15,000 first-class runs with his first boundary in a cameo of 30.

Kent could wrap up promotion with a game to spare, depending on the Sussex v Warwickshire result.

Kent batsman Zak Crawley told BBC Radio Kent:

"It feels very good (to get a hundred), I've been waiting a while for it with a couple of nineties along the way, and I was pleased to kick on. You see a lot of people getting to a hundred and getting out, so I was pretty determined not to do that because there were still plenty of runs to be had on that pitch.

"But there's still a bit in it, we bowled well tonight to get four wickets, but we're going to have to work hard to bowl them out.

"I'm not usually one to get nervous in the nineties but I was pretty nervous on 99, a couple of old memories creeping in so it was nice to get the milestone.

"I sent my bat back to Barrie (Dyer) in the shop when I was on 95, he got it fixed for me and I got it back (later in the innings). The other bat was one I'd been using for three months but it didn't feel at all right in my hand, though luckily I got to a hundred with it. Shout out to Barrie!"
