A good day for the hosts overall but Matthew Critchley has kept Middlesex at bay with a battling 87 not out after the visitors slipped to 62-4 and then 187-6.

Worcestershire's hopes of avoiding relegation disappeared in the morning session as they allowed Ravi Bopara (133) and Adam Wheater (66) to build a huge first-innings lead for Essex.
It looked like it could be over quickly when Jamie Porter struck twice after Essex declared, but Joe Clarke's unbeaten 74 has helped the Pears drag this game into a third day.
