Lancashire batter Steven Croft has signed a T20 contract for 2024 and will join the club's coaching staff.
The 38-year-old brings his first-class and List A career to an end as he prepares for his 21st season with the club in a playing capacity.
Croft was part of the county's backroom team during last season's One-Day Cup and helped them to the quarter-finals.
"This is something that has been an ambition of mine for a while," Croft told the club's website., external
"I am delighted to have the opportunity to start my coaching career with Lancashire - a club which has given me and my family so much over the last 20 years.
"The timing feels right to call time on playing first-class and List A cricket, especially with the number of talented players we have in contention for places, but I will also be ready and looking forward to helping the team in T20 cricket again next season."
Making a total of 212 first-class Red Rose appearances, Croft also hit the winning runs as Lancashire won the County Championship in 2011.
Croft played 148 consecutive T20 matches for Lancashire between June 2006 and July 2018 and helped the club win the Blast in 2015.
He was appointed club captain the following year and in recent years has also spent time coaching Lancashire's academy and age group system.
