Chohan among six newcomers in England Lions squad

Yorkshire leg-spinner Jafer Chohan has followed being named in England's white-ball squad to face West Indies with a call-up to an England Lions party for the first time.
Chohan, along with five other newcomers, is part of a 19-man squad heading to South Africa in November and December.
The Lions team will be led for the first time by former England international Andrew Flintoff after he was appointed Lions head coach in September.
Four players with senior England experience will also travel, including Josh Hull who made his Test debut against Sri Lanka last month.
The Lions will be in South Africa from November 20 to December 14 and the training camp will also include a four-day match against South Africa A in Western Province.
Chohan is experiencing his first Lions call-up along with fast bowlers Henry Crocombe (Sussex), Harry Moore (Derbyshire) and Mitch Stanley (Lancashire), wicketkeeper Matt Hurst (Lancashire) and batter Freddie McCann (Nottinghamshire).
"In selecting these players we have a mix of well-established performers who’ve been in the England set-up and excelled in the domestic game, through to some of the most exciting young talent coming through," said Flintoff, external.
Chohan was was playing club cricket in Loughborough two years ago, having failed to sign a contract for childhood county Middlesex. On Wednesday, the 22-year-old became the first graduate of the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA) to be named in an England squad.
Chohan and Hurst will be absent for part of the tour to South Africa due to their participation in the Big Bash League in Australia.
