Worcestershire have signed Pakistan international leg-spinner Usama Mir on a three-year T20 contract from next season.

The 29-year-old will join the Pears for a second spell as an overseas player for the 2026 season, before becoming classed as a homegrown player from 2027.

Mir topped both the county's T20 bowling and batting averages in 2023 and was due to return last year, but was unable to obtain the right paperwork.

"He's a high-calibre cricketer with the skills and temperament to make a real impact at this level," Worcestershire chief executive Ashley Giles told the club website, external.

"His ability to transition into a homegrown player from 2027 gives us great flexibility in squad planning and shows our commitment to building a competitive team for the long term."

Mir has represented Pakistan across all formats, including five international T20 caps, and appeared in T20 leagues around the world.

He has also played for Manchester Originals in the past two editions of The Hundred.

"It's huge for Worcestershire," added head coach Alan Richardson. "The club has a very proud history and a rich history of quality overseas signings."
