Scorecard

Eddie Byrom’s career-best 123 not out led Glamorgan to a convincing eight wicket win over Nottinghamshire.

Colin Ingram also hit a hundred in a stand of 170 as the hosts chased down a target of 275.

Haseeb Hameed anchored the visitors’ innings of 274-9, with 89 off 109 balls.

But Andy Gorvin, with a career-best five for 56, prevented Notts from accelerating too hard.

It was Glamorgan’s third win from three while Notts have two from four.

Jamie McIlroy claimed two early wickets as the Outlaws got off to a sluggish start after being put in on the Neath club ground.

But England under 19 opener Freddie McCann (48) added 86 with Hameed before he was given out, caught by keeper Will Smale off Gorvin with the ball apparently looping up off the batter’s boot.

Tom Moores (37) and Liam Patterson-White (36) contributed hard-hitting cameos but medium-pacer Gorvin kept taking wickets to interrupt their progress, while McIlroy and Timm van der Gugten kept the runs down with economical performances.

Glamorgan’s openers had no problems making a faster start as they found the boundary regularly and the hundred came up in the 16th over before Will Smale, who was dropped on 11, lobbed Liam Patterson-White to cover for 37.

Kiran Carlson fell to Lyndon James for two but the third-wicket pair of Byrom and Ingram made hay in the sunshine.

The flying start meant they could afford to soak up a few quiet overs, and Byrom broke out with a pair of reverse-swept sixes.

There were no real chances offered as the pair struck 33 boundaries between them.

Glamorgan got home with 4.3 overs to spare as Ingram reached three figures off 96 balls with the winning boundary, finishing on 103 not out.

Glamorgan batter Eddie Byrom told BBC Sport Wales:

“We felt in control of the chase all the way through after a good start with Smale playing beautifully as well, then with Colin out there it’s always under control.

“I’ve been out of form and struggling for form this season, but I always knew it was round the corner because I’ve done it at this level before, and today things went my way.

“Andy Gorvin bowled really well with a career-best five-for, so credit to him and the boys up top who restricted Notts at the start. It was a really good all-round performance.”
