Need 80 more runs to win from 66 balls

That brings in Rehan Ahmed, who is back in an England team for the first time since November. His first scoring shot is a swinging reverse sweep, of course.

Just when you thought Jacob Bethell was getting into third or fourth gear, he just smacks it up. A reward for Harry Tector, he's juts bringing that variety that Ireland need.

Jacob Bethell was flying in that over from Harry Tector. He just mishits it, right into the air. It's a rather tame ending in the end.

    Out next ball!

Did the wait for a new ball to be found break Bethell's rhythm? He has hit the ball straight to extra cover.

That was really ferocious from Jacob Bethell. He can look really calm and elegant, then all of a sudden this wrath comes out of him.

    Eng 116-1published at 8.3 overs

One of the biggest sixes of the day! This has bounced up and over the temporary stand and down towards the sea.

Harry Tector too slow, too short. Jacob Bethell is into his stride now as he plays a beautiful shot.

One classy cut. One heaving, clubbing whack. Jacob Bethell is finding his groove too.

Just the 200 odd runs from the last 86 balls he’s faced without getting out for Phil Salt…

  10. Eng 102-1published at 8 overs

    Target 197

Phil Salt swings hard at another and the sprawling Curtis Campher cannot stop it despite a goalkeeper dive in the deep. The next ball is cracked back at bowler Craig Young, almost sending Young for a visit to the plastic surgeon, and brings up England's 100 in 52 deliveries.

How often do you see a double no ball?

  14. Eng 89-1published at 6.4 overs

Oh! Replays show it was actually a no-ball for Harry Tector's front foot.

The spinner had overstepped and bowled a filthy full toss.

It did look high at the time, definitely above waist height.

We hear a lot about the changes of technique when it comes to T20 batting. If you're looking for technical excellence, that last shot from Phil Salt was perfect. It just goes to show that you don't need to make it a slog fest, you just need to play the technically sound shots.

Phil Salt, that's his fifty off 20 deliveries. What an incredible player.

A fifty from 20 deliveries for Phillip Dean Salt as he cuts for four.

He got 141 last time I was in the live-texter's chair. Just saying.

    Thanks Jonty.

The skipper, Jacob Bethell, is in. It still feels odd writing that.

I have socks older than him but he drives Barry McCarthy for four.
