Zak Crawley chips a drive back and it's not too far from Blessing Muzarabani's left hand. The big quick has quite the wingspan but cannot quite contort his body to get there.

Ben Duckett played out a maiden in Richard Ngarava's previous over.

That's more maidens than he played out in the whole of England's last home Test summer.

There is still just enough swing for Richard Ngarava to keep him interested and prevent Crawley and Duckett being able to go full Bazball.

Blessing Muzarabani gets that slight angling action. If he can get a touch of movement he is going to be playing down the wrong line.

It's one of those pitches. You have got to be solid, if you go searching for it you will go for four-five an over.

Is Josh the only teacher reading this or listen to TMS on the sly? I doubt it...

Zak Crawley gets in on the boundary-hitting act by rolling his wrists on a ball at sternum-height from Blessing Muzarabani. The England opener keeps the ball down and it whistles on to the fence.

Muzarabani obviously gets bounce from his height but he looks accurate too. He beats the edge to end the over - the first time that has happened so far.

A little bit of swing early on for Ngarava, moving the ball back into the right-hander and away from the left-hander. He will be hoping for an extended run at Zak Crawley as he far prefers bowling to right-handed batters in Test cricket.

These two opening bowlers - Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani - have known each other since they were schoolkids. They're good mates.

Ngarava corrects his radar for a more probing second over.

Regular readers will know that I'm a scholar of the lunches spectators bring to Test matches. I'm always impressed by the preparation that goes into these feasts.

On the way in, bag searches etc, I was disappointed that one couple had their butter knife confiscated. Understandable. More heart-breaking was the group of schoolchildren that had their rugby ball removed.

These are the questions I have missed.

There have been no early alarms for England but there are blankets out in the crowd.

It's not warm.

Zak Crawley has all 6ft 8ins of Blessing Muzarabani charging in towards him now.

I'm excited to watch the Zimbabwe quick.

The observant among you will have noticed there is no Jacob Bethell in the England XI. He is away at the IPL.

Given Bethell impressed in his first series last year, there's going to be a squeeze for places when he returns.

Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope are the most in need of runs.

Zimbabwe are chasing early movement but it won't swing if you bang the ball in halfway down.
