With 10 wickets in hand and so much power to come, I'd expect Reeza Hendricks to be taking a few more risks. It's an intriguing approach.

  3. SA 75-0published at 8 overs

We have seen some aggressive strokeplay from Quinton de Kock but now he cannily works the ball around the outfield, lofting the ball into the gaps for the ones and twos.

England searching for a bit of inspiration at the moment.

Why do England struggle to take wickets in this tournament? They seem on paper to have all basis covered. Two rapid pacers, two left armers, multiple spin options.

He is one of South Africa's greatest white-ball players and he has given his side a very, very good start here.

That sat up very nicely for Quinton de Kock and he's not going to miss out on that. I think Sam Curran was attempting a slower ball but he's in good nick, so he read it quickly.

  11. SA 63-0published at 6 overs

You don't bowl there with Quinton de Kock in this form.

Sam Curran enters the fray but bowls a delivery on a back of a length that sits up invitingly for De Kock, who smashes the ball through mid-wicket.

12 runs off the over wraps up a very handy powerplay for South Africa.

Yes, he's hit some lovely boundaries but also notice how Quinton de Kock is rotating the strike from every ball he isn't finding the ropes. He's using all his experience and not allowing the bowlers to settle by making sure he's still scoring off the good balls.

We’ve had a lot more Dua Lipa and Coldplay and a lot less DJ Bravo over the sound system today compared to the West Indies matches earlier in the week.

  14. SA 51-0published at 5 overs

Quinton de Kock looks in good nick as he clatters the first delivery of Reece Topley's over away for four.

A wide and five singles make it another expensive over for England, with South Africa reaching their half-century before the powerplay is up.

It's amazing what momentum does. It looked quite slow, quite tricky in the opening overs but all of a sudden the ball is pinging off the bat.

No respite for Jofra Archer bowling to a different batter. Straight out of the middle of Reeza Hendricks' bat.

That is a damaging over for England.

  17. SA 41-0published at 4 overs

This has been an ugly over for England.

After those two sixes Jofra Archer then bowls too short, with Quinton de Kock opening the face and guiding the ball down through third man, with Reeza Hendricks clattering a similar delivery through mid-wicket.

That's what the extra pace does. It can be a threat but it can also mean the ball just travels further and further.

Back-to-back sixes for Quinton de Kock!

He was so strong on the leg side against USA and he has helped himself early on here.

Jofra Archer overpitching on middle and leg, with De Kock heaving the ball over fine leg before launching the next delivery over mid-wicket.
