The lights have come on at The Oval, but it's not bringing any extra movement. We're seeing 40% less swing this morning compared to the final session on day three.

If you look at all the chases Joe Root has always been there.

That wicket actually came at quite a useful time for me.

Hugh's (@11:41) question about how Ben Stokes is occupying himself (crossword, tax return, sudoku) had sent my brain down a distracting rabbit hole, namely the episode of The Simpsons when Smithers laminates Mr Burns' newspaper and he complains about not being able to do the Junior Jumble.

Now my attention is fully back on the cricket. England need a big innings from Joe Root.

A very good catch. This wasn't a defensive shot from Ben Duckett.

He threw his bat at it, and again the fuller length. This is what India have done against Duckett in this series.

Dangerman Ben Duckett, gone for 54.

What is Stokes doing with his pen, watched by Root? Crossword or tax return? I’m betting Sudoku?

Ben Duckett hasn't really played his usually way.

I wonder if it is to do with his finger injury when he got hit yesterday.

I have been watching him do the shadow and he is telling himself to play a lot straighter.

And there it is. Ben Duckett edges the ball through the slips for four to bring up his half-century off 76 balls.

A round of applause for the opener but he knows the job is far from done.

It is a good start for India, especially with the way they have bowled. What has been impressive is in the last innings how involved the closing fielders are, especially with Ben Duckett.

Can’t agree with Michael in Malaga (@11:21) - England won’t chase this total without being positive and looking to score.

After Ben Duckett took the first two balls of the over for five runs, Ollie Pope has jabbed his bat down and been rewarded with a boundary off an edge.

It's very rare you see Ben Duckett struggling. He is 39 from 67 and India have a field which is quite orthodox.
