South East Stars 77-4 v Sunrisers

It's really warming up here at the Uptonsteel County Ground - or Grace Road to those of longer memories.

There is talk of thunderstorms popping up from the south this afternoon, but with any luck the East Midlands will escape.

Mady Villiers - who has 17 wickets in the trophy this season - races through a sixth over which costs a couple of singles and a leg bye.

A change of bowling as Surenkumar comes in.

  2. ouch!

South East Stars 74-4 v Sunrisers

A switch of ends for Eva Gray who gallops in from the Bennett End.

Oof, that does not look nice on replay.

Jodie Grewcock goes down awkwardly in the field and there's concern as she gingerly gets to her feet flexing her right leg.

She has 17 wickets in the competition for the Sunrisers this season and will be needed. After a few minutes of physio she looks okay to continue.

A single apiece from Aylish Cranstone (12) and Alice Davidson-Richards (25).

    Tidy stuff from Gray.

  3. Postpublished at 15 overs

South East Stars 71-4 v Sunrisers

A faint of heart lbw appeal from Mady Villiers as Aylish Cranstone looks to sweep.

    Hope>expectation. Nothing doing. Leg bye.

Three singles as Stars look to build a much-needed middle order platform.

  4. Postpublished at 14 overs

South East Stars 67-4 v Sunrisers

Alice Davidson-Richards clips a leg stump delivery from Eva Gray for a single.

Aylish Cranstone pounces as Gray goes too straight and drives through mid-off for her second.

Great work in the covers keeps a Cranstone cover drive to a single.

Gray then lets out a yelp as she draws a leading edge from Stars big fish Davidson-Richards. Single.

    Seven more from the over.

  5. Postpublished at 13 overs

South East Stars 60-4 v Sunrisers

Mady Villiers is back in for her fourth over and comes round the wicket to the left-hander Aylish Cranstone.

The all-rounder goes a little straight and Cranstone sweeps for four to pick up her first boundary.

She looks to turn the fifth ball round the corner and collects two leg byes.

  6. Postpublished at 12 overs

South East Stars 54-4 v Sunrisers

Aylish Cranstone is squared up by Kate Coppack (3-17) but a leading edge for one gets her off the mark second ball.

Where do Stars go from here?

"What a start this has been for the Sunrisers! They have been on it since ball one."

  9. wicket

WICKET Chathli lbw b Coppack 17published at 11.4 overs

South East Stars 53-4 v Sunrisers

Kate Coppack has erred a little in her last few overs but is given another.

And having taken two wickets in her first four balls, why not?

    There's a third!

Kira Chathli has been in great form of late, but tries to pull a ball which keeps low and hits her on the back leg bang in front.

Big wicket and a third for Coppack. Sensational morning.

Kira Chathli shows aggression to pull Eva Gray through square leg for four.

It takes her to 17 off 25 balls and brings up the fifty for the South East Stars off 65 balls.

The run rate they won't mind. The wickets column, however...

  11. 'A destructive start'published at 11:10 British Summer Time 21 September

    Chloe Brewer
Central Sparks batter on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

"Stars were looking like they were in a little bit of trouble early on. It has been a destructive start from the Sunrisers."

  12. dropped catch

South East Stars 47-3 v Sunrisers

Kate Coppack in for her fifth over and her radar strays again, opening up with her third wide.

A drop and run gives Alice Davidson-Richards a single.

Chance! Kira Chathli, on 13, drives firmly straight back at the bowler. Coppack gets two hands to it, but can't quite react in time and shells the chance.

How many runs will that cost?

Two from the over to end a powerplay which Sunrisers will be pretty happy with.

  13. Postpublished at 9 overs

South East Stars 45-3 v Sunrisers

Eva Gray continues and Kira Chathli helps her third ball square through the offside.

Not quite timed, but it's picked up a couple.

Gray then drops a little short and it sat up nicely for Chathli to pull through square leg for her first four.

Back to-back-boundaries as Chathli pushes the next ball through the covers. Nice.

Ten from the over - best of the powerplay thus far.

  14. Postpublished at 8 overs

South East Stars 35-3 v Sunrisers

Hands on heads in the slip cordon as Kate Coppack goes legside. They think Kira Chathli may have got a tickle on that.

It's immaterial as the chance wasn't taken.

Alice Davidson-Richards then strokes down the ground for four and holds the pose as Coppack overpitches. Lovely shot.

The pressure then forces a second wide of the over.

Seven from a long over for the quick.

  15. Postpublished at 7 overs

South East Stars 28-3 v Sunrisers

Eva Gray into the attack after a good season with Sunrisers as well as London Spirit in the Hundred.

Big lbw appeal against Kira Chathli goes up but there's a big inside edge.

Gray offers Alice Davidson-Richards a bit of width and she is not going to miss out, slapping it through the covers for her second boundary. She moves to 13.

    Nikki Chaudhuri
Surrey bowler on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

"I went for dinner with Kira [Chathli] last night. We went for an Italian because apparently pizza is the perfect pre-match meal. Kira also said she had to have a dessert, apparently it is a superstition.

"Before the first game of this season she had a dessert and she scored runs so now she has to have a dessert. She was so full after the pizza but she made sure she had every crumb of her chocolate brownie!"

  17. Postpublished at 6 overs

South East Stars 23-3 v Sunrisers

Kira Chathli is off the mark first ball with a single.

A huge rebuild is needed now.

These two batters are more than capable of a big partnership, but would have fancied facing the ball which was slightly older than six overs.

Two from the over - and the wicket.

  18. 'A really good run out'published at 10:50 British Summer Time 21 September

    Chloe Brewer
Central Sparks batter on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

"This is not a good start for Stars at all. That was a really good run out. Don't underestimate the throw-in to the bowler's end and a very clinical dismissal from the Sunrisers.

"They are only just halfway through the powerplay - this is not the start you want in a final."

    Oh no, no, no!

The LAST thing that Stars needed as skipper Bryony Smith is run out.

Alice Davidson-Richards steps down the wicket and both batters set off for the single, only to change their mind and turn back. Too late.

Mady Villiers with the golden arm as she sends the ball back to Kate Coppack to ship off the bails.

  20. Postpublished at 4 overs

South East Stars 21-2 v Sunrisers

First shot in anger from Alice Davidson-Richardson as she steps down the track and plants Mady Villiers back down the ground for her first boundary.

    Lovely footwork.

She picks up two more and then milks a single from the last to keep the strike.

    Eight from the over.
