That's all from this live page and from a soggy Taunton. But don't fret, there's still plenty of live cricket for you:

There's updates from six of the eight County Championship games that are are currently dodging the showers. That can be found here.

It is also IPL final day! Sunrisers Hyderabad are taking on Kolkata Knight Riders. Mitchell Starc has just absolutely splattered Sunrisers opener Abhishek Sharma's stumps. You can follow all the action here.

We will be back on Tuesday for England men's third T20 against Pakistan from Cardiff. The women then conclude their ODI series against Pakistan in Chelmsford on Wednesday.

    Until then, farewell.

  2. Match abandonedpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 26 May 2024

It has been inevitable for some time, but the umpires have finally called it a day.

We go again at Chelmsford on Wednesday for the third and final ODI with England still leading 1-0.

It is absolutely throwing it down at Taunton.

The cut-off time for a 20-over game is 16:43 BST.

Fear it will take more than Mike's prehistoric bird to save this one.

Some of the skies above Taunton this afternoon have been epic, but not very conducive to cricket.

We still have an inspection planned at 3pm, but with the rain coming down again we can't be certain it will happen.

    Thanks, Mike.

Not sure I can follow mega-fauna and prehistoric birds, but I will do my best.

  8. Inspection at 15:00published at 14:19 British Summer Time 26 May 2024

We've got word that there'll be another inspection at 15:00 BST.

Look, I don't think it's likely the ground is going to look any more ready in an hour, but who knows - maybe a gigantic prehistoric bird will swoop down and gulp down every drop of water in those puddles.

    It's a possibility we can't rule out.

Back at Taunton, the three umpires are consulting with a member of ground staff on the square. Behind them, some plastic sheeting that's supposed to be covering the pitch is buckling in the wind.

There's still a humongous black cloud over one stand too, while there's puddles on the outfield.

I'd say it's fairly unlikely we'll get any play today, but we'll keep you posted.

Meanwhile in the County Championship we've got six of the eight ongoing games currently in play.

Last season's champions Surrey face the steepest of uphill battles in Southampton - Hampshire's score of 606 means Rory Burns's side conceded a 458-run first innings deficit.

Unbeaten in this year's campaign, they're currently 22 without loss in their second innings.

You can follow all the action here.

Meanwhile, Jofra Archer returned to England's line-up for yesterday's T20 against Pakistan.

The fast bowler sent down deliveries over 90mph, finishing with figures of 2-28 as the visitors were dismissed well short of their target of 184.

  12. Inspection at 14:00published at 13:15 British Summer Time 26 May 2024

Turning back to Taunton, the inspection has been put back thanks to further rain. The umpires will now go out at 14:00 BST.

There's also a cloud currently hovvering over the ground that could be the dictionary definition of ominous.

To get a twenty overs a side game, we'd need to start again by about 16:30 BST.

England weren't too convincing, but their spinners bowled them to victory.

  15. Inspection at 13:15published at 12:24 British Summer Time 26 May 2024

    News! We have news!

The umpires are going to have a look at 13:15 BST.

It has stopped raining in Taunton and there's currently blue skies overhead.

But there's also a massive puddle on the outfield, currently patrolled by a couple of ground staff who are prodding at it forlornly with their forks.

Hopefully Mike Peter can bring us some more luck and inspire a break in the clouds.

No more news to bring you from Taunton. It is still raining so the groundstaff cannot even begin to attempt a clean up.

A reminder that we will start losing overs from 12:30 BST.
