The weather is awful at Taunton. There is no other way to describe it.

There are puddles forming on the outfield already.

If the players are not back out by 12:30 BST then we will start losing overs.

This is the best chance for England so far, with Sophie Ecclestone dropping Sidra Ameen at first slip when she was on one.

Hmmm, things have deteriorated rapidly. It is almost dark at Taunton has torrential rain sweeps across the ground. The groundstaff struggle to bring on the big covers because of gusty winds.

We could be in for a lengthy delay here.

Pakistan have done OK today. There has been a lot of dot balls, they've looked OK, got a few boundaries and hit the ball nicely.

Just as Pakistan were getting a bit of momentum the rain has arrived. The groundstaff are scurrying on with the covers as the players make their way off the field.

Let's hope it is just a passing shower and the action can resume soon.

    Pakistan ticking things along nicely.

  7. Pak 29-0published at 6.5 overs

More oohs and ahhs from the slip cordon as Kate Cross very nearly beats the defences of Sidra Ameen, who chops onto her pads. The next delivery she wafts at a delivery outside off stump.

Ameen does manage to find the middle as she pushes through the ball through the covers for two.

It's been a while since a boundary, it went just above Danni Wyatt, had it been anyone else, I reckon it would have been a catch.

  9. Pak 24-0published at 6 overs

In striving for pace Lauren Filer's line is off as she bowls a couple of wides.

Sadaf Shamas then plays a cut shot off the back foot that just evades the outstretched hands of Danni Wyatt at backward point and runs away for four.

Cricket is the worst sport when it rains, you have to keep switching off and on.

  11. Pak 16-0published at 5 overs

That's a good shot from Sadaf Shamas as she punches the ball off the back through the covers for two. She then guides the ball through backward point for a single.

Shamas' timing is on point so far.

The rain is also holding off, though there is a nasty-looking dark cloud in the distance.

That is a couple of chances spurned for England now, but if Lauren Filer keeps going like this then wickets will surely come.

Hmmm, there's some umbrellas going up in the crowd...

  13. dropped catch

Sidra Ameen dropped on onepublished at 3.1 overs

Lauren Filer draws the edge again but Sophie Ecclestone shells it at first slip!

A bit of extra pace and bounce trouble Sidra Ameen who got cramped for room and cut straight to Ecclestone, who dropped the ball two-handed in front of her face.

Kate Cross bowls the wobble ball quite a lot, early on she looks to swing the ball.

  15. Pak 8-0published at 3 overs

There's a strangled appeal for lbw from Kate Cross as she gets one to nip back into Sadaf Shamas and hit her pads - though there was a thick inside edge.

There's a ripple of applause from the crowd as Cross completes a maiden over.

Great over from Lauren Filer and great way to start today. She's a funny player - she has the talent and pace but doesn't often find her way into the team unless they are resting someone.

After the concern about the weather, the sun has come out at Taunton.

    Kate Cross to continue.

50/50 blame for that missed catch, they both gave a decent effort but it went right in the middle of them.

  19. Pak 8-0published at 2 overs

Lauren Filer opens with a full toss that Sidra Ameen fends away for a single.

Filer then draws a thick edge from Ameen that sends the ball in-between first and second slip, following that up with a beauty that just evades the outside edge and flies through to the wicketkeeper.

The extra pace Filer brings already causing Pakistan problems.
