  5. 'This is the confidence we needed'published at 21:29 British Summer Time

Welsh Fire's player of the match, Chris Green: "It was a lot of fun. The last two games have been an amazing atmosphere. We were really close to pulling off a win here last time.

"The message got back at the timeout from Tom Abell - he thought 130 was defendable.

"Riley Meredith was outstanding. He should be standing here - he broke the game open.

"Anytime you have anyone bowling high eighties, it puts the element of fear into the batters minds. He's a fantastic bowler, and I am happy he's on my team and I don't have to face him.

"I think tonight we was closer to a polished performance. We have a good blueprint to be successful here.

"This is the confidence we needed to have to get going."

Riley Meredith's figures of 4-9 are the best in this season's men's Hundred as well as the best for any Welsh Fire bowler in the history of the men's Hundred, beating Qais Ahmad's 4-13 vs Northern Superchargers in 2021.

Excellent stuff from Welsh Fire. It was really spear-headed by Riley Meredith and that powerplay. They through that top order of the Originals and really backed up in the field. David Payne backed it up there with some excellent bowling.

A good score in the end by Welsh Fire and defended brilliantly. It wasn't the biggest scores from their batters but it got them through that middle order and allowed them to pose a respectable target.

The Fire leap from eighth to fifth with that win. The Originals (and Fire) are one of four teams on four points but are bottom courtesy of their net run-rate.

Chris Green wins the player-of-the-match award for his 19 runs, three wickets and one spectacular catch.

    Fair enough, I'd say.

I thought the Fire were below par at halfway. They may well have been. They bowled very well there.

The Originals should have won it. They lost 6-9 in 20 balls at the finish. Ouch.

Riley Meredith is back to wrap this up.

If it wasn't impossible already, it is now barring snookers.

Need 26 runs from five balls

Welsh Fire have missed the cut-off time to bowl their overs so have to bring a fielder in but that's not going to matter.

The Originals were favourites 15 minutes ago. Jos Buttler's dismissal changed everything.

What a piece of fielding from Chris Green.

He is circling back and jumps backwards, he takes it almost full stretch and tumbles inches before the rope.

    What a catch that was.

    Ahmad c Green b Payne 2 (Originals 110-9)

This has been a superb 10 minutes of cricket from Welsh Fire. Chris Green takes a brilliant tumbling catch on the boundary. He started this off with the two wickets. That is the icing on top to remove Noor Ahmad.

David Payne showing his class. A brilliant death bowler. He jogs into the crease with so much control.

And another! That's four wickets lost in the space of 10 balls as Scott Currie hits a short ball back to the bowler David Payne with the splice.

The Welsh Fire have their first win in their grasp.
