That was a comfortable single, no question – Thomas would have made it to the bowler’s end and Umeed just sat on his bat and said ‘sorry mate, no!'

He’s got some pressure on him now. That was a silly mistake just when George had started to get momentum into his innings.

    That was a crazy single.

Thomas pushes to mid off for what would have been a massively tight single and Andy Umeed sets off but then decides to plant.

Thomas got halfway down the wicket and had to turn. Sam Northeast fired the ball in to Will Smale and the Somerset opener was yards out.

  3. Close but not outpublished at 2.1 overs

That was oh so close. Timm van der Gugten fires one through George Thomas's defences and hits him on the back pad.

Big appeal given not out. On replay that was only just clipping the top of middle and, as such, stays with the on-field decision.

Thomas had watched the replay and was on his way!

Somerset’s big three in this competition have been James Rew, Lewis Goldsworthy and Andy Umeed.

They’ve been head and shoulders above George Thomas in fourth, so those are the three Somerset will be looking to.

  6. Postpublished at 1 over

    Somerset 3-0 v Glamorgan 186-7

First runs with George Thomas squirting one a little unconvincingly through to midwicket, the Somerset openers running two.

A little more assured to finish the over nudging one off his leg stump for a single.

Somerset's chase is underway with the west country men needing a rather large looking 187 for victory.

  8. 'Set up for good second half'published at 12:46 British Summer Time 23 September

    Somerset v Glamorgan 186-7

Glamorgan batter Billy Root to Sky Sports:

"It's a bit tacky and misty and the ball is doing a little bit, so it was a bit tricky trying to get in and we were trying to work out what a good score would be.

"We looked at 160 and hoped we might get a few more. We are happy with 186-7 especially after the start but it can be a chasing ground so we've still got to bowl pretty well.

"We thought it was going to be a coin toss or a share [of the trophy] because the forecast was worse than yesterday.

"It's set up for a good second half - if we stick to what we've done to get us here we have a good chance but we have to respect what they can do and hope for the best."

  9. Sam plunders Somerset attack again in finalpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 23 September

    Sam NortheastImage source, Rex Features

Interesting to note that this isn't the first time Sam Northeast has top-scored in a One Day Cup final against Somerset.

Northeast captained Hampshire in the 2019 final and hit 56 against the men from the West Country... this time his 63 not out from 49 balls has anchored a very solid Glamorgan total.

But the Glammy faithful will hope that isn't an omen of sorts... Northeast's side tasted defeat in 2019. Will it be different today?

  10. GLAMORGAN SET SOMERSET 187 TO WINpublished at 19 overs

    Somerset v Glamorgan 186-7

Timm van der Gugten gets a little lucky with a streaky edge that flies for four, but Josh Davey's next ball is bludgeoned cleanly down the ground for another boundary.

It gets even better for Glamorgan as Van der Gugten plunders six from the penultimate delivery of the innings and he finishes with 26 not out from just nine balls.

Lovely stroke from Timm van der Gugten, who caresses one square from outside off stump to reach the fence.

Van der Gugten follows that by pulling Ben Green's next delivery for four more and then takes a single, ensuring he'll keep the strike for this final onslaught.

  12. wicket

WICKET: Kellaway c Ogborne b Green 2published at 18.1 overs

    Somerset v Glamorgan 158-7

Straightforward for Alfie Ogborne at short third as Ben Kellaway tries to drive Ben Green on the off side and smears the slower ball straight into the fielder's hands.

Can Glamorgan haul themselves up to 170 or above?

  13. Postpublished at 18 overs

    Somerset v Glamorgan 158-6

In a sense, not the tidiest of overs from Alfie Ogborne, who follows up his no-ball with a wide - but Somerset will have been pleased to keep Glamorgan down to single figures until the final ball of the over.

That's shovelled through the slip area for four by Sam Northeast, who moves on to 61.

  14. wicket

WICKET: Douthwaite run out 1published at 17 overs

    Somerset v Glamorgan 145-6

Dan Douthwaite departs run out having been caught off a no ball during the Metro Bank One Day Cup Final match between Somerset County Cricket Club and Glamorgan County Cricket ClubImage source, Rex Features

    Chaos!

A high full toss from Alfie Ogborne is quickly rules a no-ball as Sam Northeast slaps it to mid-off.

But although you can't be caught off a no-ball, you can be run out... and Dan Douthwaite had run too far down the track to make his ground as Sean Dickson's throw broke the stumps at the bowler's end.

  15. Postpublished at 17 overs

    Somerset v Glamorgan 145-5

Dan Douthwaite is off the mark with a single and Sam Northeast finishes the over with another to retain the strike.

Three overs left and Glamorgan need to recapture that momentum they had not so long ago.

  16. wicket

WICKET: Root c Rew b Thomas 39published at 16.4 overs

    Somerset v Glamorgan 143-5

    Somerset certainly needed that...

Clever delivery by George Thomas, varying his pace and manipulating the seam and Billy Root goes to drive the ball but can only nick it through to the wicketkeeper.

Dan Douthwaite comes out to try and bolster this Glamorgan effort at the death.

  17. 50 runs

50 for Sam Northeastpublished at 16 overs

    Somerset v Glamorgan 140-4

Slow start it may have been, but Sam Northeast advances to his third half-century of the tournament from 39 balls, squirting Ben Green for a leg-side single.

Good over for Somerset, however, with just a miserly six conceded after that costly previous over from Kasey Aldridge.

  18. 'Big bowling figures for Kasey'published at 12:14 British Summer Time 23 September

    Mark Davis
Former Somerset seamer on BBC Radio Somerset

That was a monster over for Glamorgan. Poor old Kasey Aldridge has gone for 29 in that over.

He just didn't look rhythmic at all and it has been a tough session for him. He has one wicket but 56 off four is a big bowling figure.

  19. 6 runs

Six - three of them!published at 15 overs

    Somerset v Glamorgan 134-4

    Sam NortheastImage source, Rex Features

Great pick-up by Billy Root, who turns Kasey Aldridge for another six and maybe the left-hander's belligerent approach is rubbing off on Sam Northeast too!

Northeast suddenly goes up a gear by heaving successive Aldridge deliveries over cover for four and six - and there's more to come.

Aldridge attempts a slower ball that turns into a full toss and a no-ball and Northeast, almost on one knee, dispatches it for four before creaming the next for six.

    Glamorgan really gathering pace now.

  20. 'Big hitters to come'published at 12:06 British Summer Time 23 September

    #bbccricket

    Mark Davis
Former Somerset seamer on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Glamorgan have to think about going at 10s now and I think that will be more than competitive. They have also got a couple of big hitters to come.
