Summary

  1. Tea - Eng 292-3published at 60 overs

The good news for South Africa is that Marizanne Kapp is back on the field, but it'll be Sune Luus to bowl the final over.

It's seen off pretty comfortably and at tea, England are very comfortably the happier side. Nat Sciver-Brunt remains unbeaten on 102 with Danni Wyatt-Hodge for company on 12.

Nonkululeko Mlaba is bowling nicely now. She struggled at the beginning and was hit for a lot of runs.

It was the short ball that she was struggling with as Nat Sciver-Brunt could just do what she wanted with it but she's improved.

  3. Eng 290-3published at 59 overs

    Shot.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge gets her first boundary with a backfoot punch for four as Mlaba drops it a fraction too short.

We should get one more over in before tea.

Very impressive stuff from Bouchier, amazing how she can bat so well in all formats at such a young age.

Marizanne Kapp is now off the field. She must be struggling with a niggle because I cannot think of any other reason why she wouldn't have bowled for so long.

That is one big problem for South Africa.

Marizanne Kapp is yet to bowl an over this session. Her last over was the 21st of the innings.

  7. Eng 279-3published at 57 overs

Danni Wyatt-Hodge is in next, and it'll be interesting to see whether she's been given a licence to go for it.

But with 10 minutes or so until tea, she might just play sensibly for now.

You could tell that Maia Bouchier had been out there for 154 balls. She was just tempted into hitting it, but it was a great catch in the slip.

A partnership of 174 is broken!

Maia Bouchier ends her first innings in Test cricket with 126 from 154 balls, brilliantly caught at slip by Sune Luus after flashing at a wide delivery from Nonkululeko Mlaba.

South Africa have something to smile about after a very difficult session.

An exceptional talent, Nat Sciver-Brunt. She is achieving so much in the game and so much still to give.

We expect this so much from her but we can't forget how much of an achievement it is.

Well, she's made that look completely effortless.

A 96-ball century for one of England's best. It felt inevitable from the moment she came to the middle, to be honest.

A chanceless innings and South Africa are well and truly up against it and we're only two sessions in to the Test.

  13. Eng 272-2published at 55 overs

    Dismissive from Bouchier.

Nat Sciver-Brunt takes a single to move to 97, then England's opener slams a one-bounce four down the ground off Nonkululeko Mlaba.

She's in one-day mode now and that is ominous for the hosts. To be fair, Sciver-Brunt has never been out of one-day mode, having only faced 93 balls.

  14. Eng 266-2published at 54 overs

    Another gift.

Sune Luus drifts down the leg side and Maia Bouchier clips for four. England have been so dominant in this session but my word, South Africa haven't helped themselves.

The spinners haven't been able to get control. You know full well that Sophie Ecclestone will hold down an end for England.

South Africa haven't got someone who does that, they have been so inconsistent and the runs have been easy pickings.

  16. Eng 261-2published at 53 overs

    Chance!

Well, ish. Maia Bouchier loses control of a pull shot and the ball flies out towards the deep square boundary, but Chloe Tryon running in can't get there and it drops short.

Nadine de Klerk is on her knees in anguish, before Sciver-Brunt moves seamlessly into the 90s with another pull for four to rub salt into the wound.

England have scored a boundary in 31 out of the 52 overs so far. 184 of the 254 runs have come in boundaries, that's almost 75% of the runs.

You get the feeling England are about to go on the charge. They have been given a few loose balls and are keeping the momentum going.

You feel there is a bit more intent now, which they may have spoken about.

  19. Eng 254-2published at 52 overs

The tea break cannot come quickly enough for South Africa.

A drag-down from Sune Luus is worked down the leg side as Nat Sciver-Brunt helps herself to yet another boundary.

She has 89, and the partnership between this pair now stands at 151 from 149 balls.

    Ruthless.

  20. Eng 247-2published at 51 overs

Two more boundaries in the over as Nadine de Klerk loses her control completely.

Maia Bouchier strikes the first fiercely down the ground for four, before a wide gifts her an extra ball and she pulls that to the ropes as well.
