  1. WICKET Sibley b Porter 11published at 16:34 1 July

    Surrey 262 & 13-1 v Essex 180

    Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

Dom Sibley is beaten outside off stump either side of a neat drive through the off side for four runs.

There's still encouragement here for the Essex attack but the pressure is on after- falling behind by just over 80 runs on first innings.

Sibley keeps the strike with a single in to the leg side.

Bowled him! Jamie Porter angles one in, beats the bat and pegs back off stump as Sibley appears to play down the wrong line.

Dan Lawrence will bat at three for Surrey.

  2. WICKET Khushi lbw b Barker 53published at 16:30 1 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 81-3

    Keith BarkerImage source, Getty Images

He'd made 53 from 39 balls, but Feroze Khushi had his flow interrupted by the interval and he has missed this straight ball from Keith Barker.

He tried to work it into the leg side but allowed it to go through and thump him on the pads.

Barker gets Khushi with his first delivery after tea in exactly the same way he got Ben Compton earlier.

He was here for a good time, not a long time, sadly for Kent fans.

Joey Evison comes in to join Jack Leaning with Kent still 424 in arrears.

  3. Postpublished at 16:28 1 July

    Surrey 262 & 8-0 v Essex 180

    Maiden from Shane Snater.

Jamie Porter is full and leg side to Dom Sibley, who clips the bowler square for four runs.

He gets a single off the next ball and the lead swells to 90.

  5. Postpublished at 16:25 1 July

    Somerset 85-3 v Warwickshire 412

Tom Abell is forward to Will Rhodes, defending the medium pacer into the on side.

He gets one pushed safely behind square on the off side.

A quiet start for Somerset since the break, delayed somewhat by a search for a replacement ball early on in the session of play.

  6. Postpublished at 16:21 1 July

    Surrey 262 & 2-0 v Essex 180

Rory Burns is off the mark with a nudge to leg second ball.

Dom Sibley is forward with a thick inside edge that runs the ball to long leg for one.

Shane Snater will bowl from the Pavilion End.

    Tea: Northants 41-1 v Sussex - target 284

The weather is more like 1 November than 1 July at a grey, cold Northampton.

So far, 31 wickets have fallen in five sessions in this match. But the wicket is playing slightly easier and this could be a tight contest.

Sussex added 154 valuable runs to their overnight score, skipper John Simpson again top scoring and leading from the front, whilst the Northamptonshire skipper Luke Procter has shown the value of bowling an exemplary line and length on this pitch.

There was a controversial incident with the dismissal of Nathan McAndrew who was caught by Procter who collided with a team-mate in taking the catch.

Whether Procter had control of the ball for long enough was debateable, but to McAndrew's huge credit he accepted the decision without question

At the time he was 22 not out in just 25 balls and Sussex 231-7 but after his dismissal added just another eight runs.

  10. Surrey begin their second inningspublished at 16:16 1 July

    Surrey 262 & 0-0 v Essex 180

Rory Burns and Dom Sibley are in the middle to try to press home Surrey's advantage, which begins with 82 on first innings.

Burns will face Jamie Porter from the Vauxhall End to get the session started with 45 overs left in the day's play.

  11. Ball change at Tauntonpublished at 16:16 1 July

    Somerset 83-3 v Warwickshire 412

Warwickshire skipper Alex Davies asks the umpires to have a look at the ball and they agree to a change.

It's only two balls into its 25th over but a replacement is duly found and handed to Will Rhodes.

Just the Tom Abell single off Rhodes' first over.

  12. Day two washed out at Southportpublished at 16:16 1 July

    Lancashire 344-8 v Notts

Such a shame. The rains have come and gone with incredible frequency throughout the day but it's been decided that no play is possible on the second day.

    Let's try again tomorrow.

Another day to wait to see Jimmy Anderson and Nathan Lyon in tandem for Lancashire, but also to see if skipper Keaton Jennings can post a double century.

Jennings hit his fourth century of the season to steer Lancashire to 344-8 at stumps on day one against Nottinghamshire.

  13. Postpublished at 16:15 1 July

    Somerset 82-3 v Warwickshire 412

Will Rhodes aborts two balls into his over and the ball is going to be changed after apparently failing the umpire tests.

41 overs left after this one - when we can locate a ball of comparable age to the one being replaced. Sigh.

  14. 'Walter has given his side a bit of hope'published at 16:12 1 July

    Surrey 262 v Essex 179-8

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

It's been a good innings that from Paul Walter.

I think he toe ended that.

He's given his side a bit of hope here.

  15. Play resumes at Tauntonpublished at 16:10 1 July

    Somerset 82-3 v Warwickshire 412

Oliver Hannon-Dalby gets the ball rolling after tea, and Tom Banton clips his first ball into midwicket for a settling single.

Tom Abell tickles another single down to fine leg to chip the deficit down to a sizeable 330.

The Bears turn to the left-arm medium pace of Will Rhodes from the River End.

  16. 'The home side are in the driving seat'published at 16:07 1 July

    Surrey 262 v Essex 179-8

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

With the Essex changing room resembling Emergency Ward 10 (ask your Mum and Dad kids) this has been a battling session for the visitors.

Given the circumstances they have done well to hang in there, but Surrey have not pushed too hard for wickets with numerous close catchers, and that approach has been borne out by Snater and Walter both being caught in the deep.

The home side are in the driving seat.

  17. The covers are coming off at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:07 1 July

    Durham 190 & 61-5 v Worcs 112 - Durham lead by 139

If no further rain, then play will resume at 16:45 with 28 overs (plus the one interrupted by the last rain shower).

Durham will resume their second innings on 61-5 - that's an overall lead of 139 runs.

  18. Tea at Northamptonpublished at 16:07 1 July

    Northants 41-1 v Sussex - target 284

Northamptonshire have made a good start chasing a victory target of 284 after Sussex were bowled out for 237.

The hosts lost Ricardo Vasconcelos for six to Nathan McAndrew, but Emiliano Gay (22 not out) and Prithvi Shaw (13 not out) have taken the runs required down to 243.

  19. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 16:04 1 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 75-2

The lights came on at Southampton just before the interval but it was Feroze Khushi who lit up the mini-session on his Kent debut.

He clipped and pulled his way to a half century from 38 balls, reaching the milestone from the final ball before tea with an edge to the rope for his 10th four to go with a six.

Kent are 75-2 from 12 overs. There are 43 more overs to come before stumps. Who knows what on earth the scoreboard will show at that stage.

They are still 430 behind Hampshire's meaty 505-8 dec, built on the back of James Vince's virtuoso 211.

  20. ESSEX ALL OUT FOR 180 AT THE OVALpublished at 15:58 1 July
    Breaking

    Surrey 262 v Essex 180

Jamie Porter ducks under a Dan Worrall bouncer to see out the 51st over.

What can Eathan Bosch do here against Jordan Clark?

He drives with a bat nearly at right angles and gets a thick inside edge to mid on. No run.

Out! That will be an early tea.

Bosch drives and chips a catch to Tom Lawes at mid on.

Jordan Cox is absent injured so that is the end of the Essex innings.

Jordan Clark ends with 3-33 and Dan Worrall has 3-40.

Fantastic effort from the defending champions after being pushed hard by Essex for much of the game so far.

The innings lead is a more than handy 82.
